Project Description

The objective of this research is to develop an oral history project to study Piikani relationships with the Oldman River and examine how the Piikani Nation has attempted to protect these relationships. With its emphasis on the multifaceted relationships the Oldman River directly embodies, sustains, and structures for Piikani people, this project advances critical and local approaches to Indigenous relationality, as well as intergenerational knowledge transfer through the engagement of Piikani elders and activists.
