The Relational Governance Project

The Relational Governance Project, led by Dr. Matthew Wildcat, at UAlberta looks at how First Nations create forms of shared jurisdiction with each other.

Relational Governance is defined as instances where First Nations co-govern service delivery organizations with each other. The Relational Governance project has three interrelated initiatives. First, conceptualizing the theory and methods that are required to study Indigenous institutions  from a policy perspective. Second, a database the documents case of relational governance in the delivery of K-12 education on reserve. Third, building a Relational Governance Foundations workshop that is delivered in community settings where people are already practicing or exploring the possibility of relational governance.
